Tips and Tricks....

  • Treo 600, 650, 680, 700p:
Did you know?  When creating a speed dial (dial pad favorites), if you create it using the "lookup" function, when you are in speed dial, highlight the person you want to dial, hit the "spacebar" key on your Treo, and it will show all the available numbers you can use to call that person.  So, you are not limited to just one number per entry!

  • Windows XP:
Windows XP "hides" icons down by your clock (lower right corner).  Here's how to "unhide" them.  Right mouse button on your "start" button.  Choose "Properties".  Click on the "Taskbar" tab.  Uncheck "hide inactive icons".  Choose "OK".  Why do this?  So you can see all the icons (including your Anti-Virus).

  • Internet Explorer 7.0:
Internet Explorer keeps track of everywhere you have been on the web.  It's called "cache" or "temporary internet files" and if you haven't changed the default size of it, it could be using up to 1 gb of your hard drive space.  And, it's not necessary to have a large cache!  Here's how you make it smaller:
Open Internet Explorer.  Click on "Tools", "Internet Options".  Click on the "General" tab.  Under "Browsing History" click "Settings" Change the "Amount of disk space to use" to 25 MB.  Click "OK", Now
click on the "Advanced" tab.  Scroll all the way to the bottom.  You should see "Empty Temporary Internet Files Folder when browser is closed."  Check this option then click "OK"

  • Remove the AVG Anti-Virus text message in Emails:
This will tell you how to remove the .txt attachment in every email that states that AVG has scanned your email and it is clean.
    1. “Double” click on the AVG icon in the lower right corner.
    2. "Double" click on Email scanner.

    3.  Click "Configure"
    4. Uncheck both "certify mail" boxes.
    5. Click Ok once you have made your changes. Then click Ok once more. This puts you back to the control center.  Close it and your done!
